I respect, obey Bible more than Nigerian constitution- Dino Melaye

The Senator representing Kogi west, Dino Melaye, has said that he has respect and obey the Bible more than the constitution of the federal republic of Nigeria, where he is a lawmaker.

Melaye, however, urged Nigerians to speak up in the face of so many injustices the country is facing.

Speaking on Sunday at the one year remembrance of late Janet Kikelomo Gbadebo, the wife of a Deputy Editor of Leadership Newspaper, Bode Gbadebo, held at the Gloryland Baptist Church, Lugbe Abuja, Sen. Melaye expressed confidence that would take over affairs of Nigeria.

“I want to say by the grace of God that the Church of God in Nigeria will continue to march forward. As an individual I respect the Bible than the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, and I will first obey the word of God before I obey the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

“I know God will take over the affairs of this nation. My singular advice for all Nigerians irrespective of religion, sects and tribe is that we must all come out of our hiding, we must conquer fear because the Bible say He has not given us the spirit of fear but He has given us the spirit of boldness and that of a sound mind.

“I encourage us to practive this philosophy of mine that in an unjust society silence is a crime. When you see what is evil say it because if you say the truth you will die, if you lie you will die. So, it is better to say the truth and die,” Melaye said.

Earlier, the minister in charge of the church, Rev. Niyi Ogundipe, urged the government to embrace restructuring, saying by doing so there would be resources for Nigerians to benefit from.

Rev. Ogundipe said:”Nigeria is still practicing what I will call baby style economy. A situation whereby states come to Abuja to share allocation, a governor may decide to seat there for the period of four years without generating anything for the state, believing that he will go to Abuja and share the money.

“Let us turn all the states to priduction centers whereby the states will give to the center and not the center sharing to the states, that is why things are not working. If the governors are asked to go and pay salaries, develop their own state, generate their own income and run the economic efficiently, you will see that there will be enough for everybody.”

Whike thanking the congregation, the man of God, his family members, colleagues and his and his friends, Gbadebo said he was surprise at the level of support he got since he lost his wife a year ago.

The church service brought to the presence of God men from all walks of life.
