I supported Agege because he is my in-law-Sen Ekpenyong

The Senator representing Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District, Chris Ekpenyong has revealed that he played a key role in the emergence of Senator Ovie Omo Agege as Deputy President of the Senate because he is his in-law.

Speaking with journalists in Uyo shortly on arrival from Abuja Tuesday, Ekpenyong said although the duo of Senator Ahmed lawan and Senator Ovie Omo Agege were members of the APC, his decision to support them was for strategic purpose.

He said: “you saw on TV that after our swearing in, we played a very key role in the emergence of Senator Ahmed Lawan and Omo Agege despite that they are not in my party the PDP.

“Senator Omo-Agege is married to a daughter of Akwa Ibom State, who comes from Oron, that makes him our in-law.”

He said that it was in that same spirit that his people in Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District played a critical role in the re-election of Gov Udom Emmanuel who is their inlaw.

He reassured his constituent that he will ensure that their interests are well protected.

“Quality representation, total representation that will be felt across all parts of the senatorial district is what I intend to bring,” he said.
