I want to emulate Sardauna of Sokoto – Al-Makura

The former governor of Nasarawa state, Senator Umaru Al-Makura, Saturday, said he want to be like the late premier of Northern Nigeria, Sir Ahmadu Bello, the Sardauna of Sokoto by embracing all category of people.

He stated this in Lafia when he was conferred with the chieftaincy tittle of Sardaunan Gwandara by the Gwandara extraction.

Al-Makura who described the concept of the late premier as someone who did not believe in primordial sentiments and did not discriminate against religion or tribe, said, “I am happy to receive this recognition because I will want to be like Sardauna of Sokoto, the late Sir, Ahmadu Bello, this country needs many Sardauna of Sokoto to ensure peace, unity ,stability and security.”

He prayed God to give him the wisdom to act like the Sardauna of Sokoto.

Al-Makura who is a serving Senator promised to sacrifice more to his people, “by assuming this position I have made a pledge to sacrifice as much as I can for the sake of humanity without any differences of religion, tribe even political party. If you come from different political party, I will treat you as a human being that deserves that kind of respect.”

Al-Makura said the conferment of the Sardauna Gwandara by his kinsmen was a clear indication that his people are with him at any given time hence the fact that they decided that he should be conferred with the tittle.

He promised to use the position he occupy to ensure that he bring peace, unity and development not only to his people but Nasarawa state and Nigeria at large.

He therefore, called on his people and the entire people of the state to join hands with the state and federal government to ensure that governance at all levels succeed.
