I was beaten, maltreated by kidnappers – Clark’s son

Kidnapped and released son of Ijaw leader, Edwin Clark, Ebikeme, at the weekend explained his ordeal in the hands of his kidnappers.
He said he was beaten, maltreated and pleaded with the kidnappers to spare his life for the sake of his family and little children.

Ebikeme narrated his ordeal when South-south community in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), led by its Interim Chairman, Chief Charles Ebhodaghe Okosun, paid his father a courtesy visit on the rescue of his son.

He said the kidnappers threatened to kill him when they put a call to his father and demanded for the sum of N50 million and his father said he had no such amount.
Ebikeme said while they were demanding for the sum of N50 million from his father, they were at the same demanding the sum of N10 million from his wife.

He said: “They said my father was very stubborn and as such would take me far into the creek and take me to Warri. They used to beat me, their plan was to drown me and they actually tied my legs, but I pleaded with them not to kill me.

“They called my father to pay N50 million for my release and also called my wife to pay N10 million. I pleaded with them not to kill me because of my little children. My wife promised to raise money but said she would not be able to raise up to N10 million, at least N5 million.”

Leading a special prayer session for the rescue of Clark’s son, the Board of Trustees (BoT) chairman of the South-south community and former Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Mr Mike Okiro, represented by his vice, Chief Imasuen Osazuwa, said the rescue of Ebikeme was an evidence that Edwin Clark was loved by God.
