I won’t disappoint you- Ashiru tells Kaduna people…lead

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) gubernatorial candidate for Kaduna state, Honourable Isah Ashiru, has promised not to disappoint the people of Kaduna state, if he is elected as governor on March, 2nd, 2019.

This is just as former PDP National Caretaker chairman, and ex-governor of Kaduna state, Senator Ahmed Mohammed Makarfi, said that the party would build on the infrastructural foundations it laid before losing the state to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2015.

Addressing the people of Zaria, who thronged the Tudun Wada Road, Zaria City, venue of the campaign tour, Ashiru, who had to mount a car as the stage had caved in under human pressure, urged them to vote en mass and protect their votes.

“I am so grateful for the acceptance that Zaria has shown to me and other contestants today. I can see the desire for change in all of you and we shall never disappoint you, if you give us the chance. Come out, vote and protect your votes,” Ashiru said.

Speaking during the tour, which kicked off in Palladan, Sabon Gari LGA, Sen. Makarfi said, “Look all around you today, whatever development you see, was the handiwork of the PDP.  The Zaria waterworks, township roads, schools and hospitals, were built by us, or their contracts were awarded before the PDP lost the state in 2015.

“They can’t even complete what we left behind. They said the PDP stole. But you can see what we have done. They say they are not stealing, but where is the money, where are the projects?

“Ashiru was chairman, Appropriation Committee of Kaduna State House of Assembly (KDHA) for eight years I was governor. All the portable water supply to Sabon Gari and environs, all the rural electricity, primary healthcare centres, and farming inputs, were done by the approvals of his committee.

“So, he knows all the areas, the people and the challenges. He shall come to replicate them, as governor when you vote him to power. He will not sack people from work, and will not insult our leaders,” Makarfi added.

Former Minister of Aviation and Kaduna State PDP chairman, Chief Felix Hassan Hyat, told the crowd to get their Permanent Voters Card (PVCs) and vote out the APC from the presidential, governorship, national and state assembly.

The campaign train then proceeded to the palace of the Emir of Zazzau, Alhaji Shehu Idris. The monarch urged the PDP gubernatorial and other candidates to, “conduct yourselves orderly and shun any form of violence. Everyone should get his PVC and vote for a candidate of his choice. I wish you good luck and God’s blessings.”

Zaria marked the end of Ashiru’s campaign tour in Kaduna North Zone. He has been to seven LGAs in the zone including Kauru, in Kaduna South Zone, where he was greeted with goodwill throughout.

Ashiru would be in Kachia and Zangon Kataf today in continuation of the campaign tour.
