Ibadan: EFCC arraigns 68-yr-old man over N25m land scam

A 68-year- old man was Wednesday arraigned before the Federal High Court sitting in Ibadan by the zonal office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over alleged N25 million land scam.

Arraigning the man, Ezekiel Oluwadare James, before Justice Patricia Ajoku, on a two-count charge bordering on conspiracy and obtaining money under pretence, EFCC stated that the offence is contrary to Sections 8(a) of the Advance Fee Fraud and Other Fraud Related Offences Act, 2006 and punishable under Section 1 (3) of the same Act.

The anti graft commission said the 68-year-old man fraudulently obtained the sum of N25,000,000 from a victim for a plot of land.

Oluwadare pleaded not guilty to the charge when it was read to him in the Court.

Justice Ajoku adjourned the case till March 24, 2021, for hearing of the defendant’s bail application and April 26, 2021, for trial.

The judge ordered that the 68-year- old man be remanded at the Nigerian Correctional Centre, Abolongo, Oyo town, pending the hearing and determination of his bail application.
