ICC Tourney:NCF prunes team to 22, invites foreign pros, set for facility inspection

No fewer than 22 players have been shortlisted for a second round of camping ahead of International Cricket Council (ICC) T-20 Sub-Regional Qualifier scheduled to hold from between April 16 and 22, this year in Lagos.
Making this known yesterday in a press statement made available to Blueprint Sports, Public Relations Officer, Nigeria Cricket Federation (NCF), Musa Ehizoje Bodie maintained that the current set of players were among 33 earlier invited from parts of the country for the first phase of National male camping programme.
According to him, the 33 players took part in a high performance T-20 Super league tournament.
Ehizoje further disclosed that three Nigerian players who ply their trade abroad including, Saheed Akolade in Australia, Sola Anya in United Kingdom) and Dotun Olatunji in Canada will also be joining next stage of training session.
Meanwhile, ICC representative Mr Kuben Pilay, who will be inspecting the Tafawa Balewa Cricket Facility, host venue for the ICC Sub-Regional T-20 Qualifiers in April will be in Nigeria this weekend for a two-day visit.
In December, 2017, a two-man delegation from ICC Africa were also in Nigeria for a working visit which afforded them opportunity to inspect the ovals in Abuja before they moved down to Lagos within same period.
