ICRC registers 2,000 vulnerable households for assistance in Yobe

As part of efforts to bring succour to victims affected by conflict in North-east, the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) has concluded registration of 2,000 most vulnerable households in Damaturu, Yobe state.

Head of the sub-delegation in Damaturu, Farrukh Khan, disclosed this to our correspondent on Monday in a press statement.

He said the assistance was meant for most vulnerable persons and returnees.

“Among our assistance activities is providing emergency relief and supporting livelihood of people that have been affected by the conflict”.

“During this lean period, the ICRC is targeting about 2000 households who are the most vulnerable from Damaturu metropolis and this assistance is expected to benefit about 12,000 people,” he said.

Khan further, said before the assistance is given, there were processes in which the beneficiary would fulfill, promising that the distribution will soon commence.

Aishatu Mohammed Nayinawa and Abubakar Ladan from Pompomari wards thanked the ICRC.

He said the gesture when given would help them in recovering as the raining season sets-in.

Blueprint gathered that in 2018, only 9,980 returnees had been assisted with agricultural inputs in Gujba, Geidam and Yunusari local government.

Provision of medical care to 39,860 people, rehabilitation of Kanamma primary health care centre which serves 28,200 people were among the activities carried out.
