ICT can revolutionise education sector – Expert

 

Expert in Information and Communication Technology (ICT) sector and the Chief Executive Officer of Ynet Interactive, Chuka Okoye, has disclosed that embracing technology in education can revolutionise the sector just as it did to the banking sector of economy.

According to him, given the several challenges facing the country’s education sector, technology application remained the only phenomenon that could rescue the sector.

Okoye made the disclosure at a workshop organised for proprietors, teachers and other stakeholders from public and private schools within Abuja and environs.

Blueprint reported that the workshop was focused on “School Automation” and how such solutions could be used to eliminate the challenges, inefficiencies and inadequacies of the manual management systems used in most educational institutions.

Okoye stated that schools automation, which is just one aspect of ICT, could ease the burden of teaching and “make the teachers’ job a lot easier”, adding that ICT has the capacity to revolutionise the education sector.

Speaking on the aim of the workshop, the General Manager, Ynet Interactive, Uzo Okpaka, said the company aimed at adding value to the education sector on the relevance of ICT and to equip school owners with necessary information they needed to manage their internal processes.
