Ohaneze Ndigbo Youth Council (OYC) Worldwide Thursday, commended President Muhammadu Buhari and the Inspector General of Police, Adamu Mohammed for the successful inauguration of the new Police zone 13 command headquarters at Ukpo, Dunukofia Council area of Anambra state.
The new zone inaugurated on Wednesday is to cover Enugu, Ebonyi and Anambra states respectively.
In a statement signed and issued to journalists in Abakaliki by the president General of OYC, Okechukwu Isiguzoro, he said the new police Zonal headquarters would enhance community policing in the area.
While pledging support of the group, he warned that the zone should solely focus on strict adherence to professionalism by Police officers.
The statement reads in parts,“Igbo Youths will Mobilise necessary support for AIG .Mohammed Danmallam and his team to succeed.
“OYC commends President Muhammadu Buhari and Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu for the appointment of AIG. Mohammed Danmallam. His appointment is a right Peg in a round hole. As for his track record of achievements as former Enugu CP in the South-east, he knows the terrain and will surely replicate his skills and Wealth of experience in the region.
“Igbo Youths will partner with the Nigeria Police Force on the launching of ‘Igbo Youth initiative Project’ ‘Operations Zero tolerance to Crime ‘the coded name to change the narrative of insecurity challenges as regards to herdsmen nefarious activities and kidnappings in the Southeast.
“Our Goodwill Message during the Official opening ceremony of the New Police Zonal Office(Zone 13) in Anambra on 8th July 2020, is that Igbo Youths categorically warn all killer herdsmen to relocate to other areas as OYC will provide all necessary information and will report any suspicious activities of any Herdsmen and criminals to the police” it stated.
