Igbo youth, Wednesday, turned out in their numbers to protest against the setting up of Ebubeagu security outfit, saying they do not want it anywhere in Igboland.
Ebubeagu was set up by the governors and leaders of South East as a result of mounting insecurity in Igboland as well as in various parts of Nigeria.
The security outfit was set up similar to the security established by the Yoruba, called Amotekun aimed at checking invaders from Yoruba communities.
The angry youth, armed with placards with different inscriptions; “Ebubeagu must go, we don’t want Ebubeagu, they have killed our youths,” among others, marched the streets of Enugu to register their discontent.
Speaking on behalf of the protesters, Mr. Felix Enyi, who said they were ‘Igbo youth of South East, lamented that Ebubeagu operatives have killed many people in Imo and Ebonyi states, pointing out that enough is enough. “We don’t want Ebubeagu again. They should disband Ebubeagu. We thought Ebubeagu was set up to protect us not knowing that it was set up to kill us,” he cried out.
Recall that in recent time, it was reported that Ebubeagu operatives have killed many people, especially in Imo state.
