IGP approves new beret, logo, other for EOD-CBRN command

The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Usman Alkali Baba, has assured Nigerians of safety during the 2023 general elections.

The IGP, who was represented by the DIG Operations, Bala Zama Senchi, stated this while commissioning the newly built EOD-CBRN conference hall in Lagos.

He said all necessary equipment and other security training were being done for members of the police ahead of the 2023 elections.

“Nigerians should expect security during the 2023 general elections, hence, EOD will perform better than the way it used to be and this is why the IGP is more concerned about the training of personnel of the EOD. It enhances their performance because where there is no training, there will be a problem. But I want to assure you that with the training the IGP is giving to the members of the EOD, Nigeria should expect a better performance.

“However, I want to state clearly that all these commissioning and development of new equipment are projects that show we are preparing very well ahead of the 2023 elections to ensure that Nigerians will go to bed with their eyes closed and I want to emphasise that the IGP is putting everything in place for the security of Nigerians.”

Speaking on the circulation of equipment around Nigeria before the 2023 elections, the DIG stated categorically that the commissioning today is not the only one, thus far in Nigeria.

“There have been other commissioning in other parts of the country, but Lagos being the epicenter of the commercial capital of Nigeria occupies a very important space and that is why we want to showcase some of this equipment in Lagos before other states in the country,” he said.
