IGP orders posting, redeployment of senior officers

…Names heads of new departments, zones

The Inspector General of Police, IGP Mohammed Adamu, Friday, ordered the posting/redeployment of Assistant Inspectors General of Police (AIGs) Adeleye Olusola Oyebade, and Ibrahim A. Lamorde, to the Department of Research and Planning and Directorate of Intelligence, FHQ, Abuja, respectively.

The departments were created following the recent presidential approval for the re-organisation of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) which included the creation of an additional department and the expansion of the Police zonal structure from 12 to 17 ad well as the creation of two additional FCID annexes.

Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO), DCP Frank Mba, in a press statement in Abuja said: “Prior to this posting, AIG Oyebade was a directing staff at the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), Kuru, Jos, while AIG Lamorde, a former Chairman of the EFCC, was the AIG in-charge of Force Intelligence.”

He listed the senior police officers posted to the new Police Zonal Commands as AIG Dan-Mallam Mohammed who was posted to Zone 13 Ukpo-Dunukofia (Awka); AIG Rabiu Yusuf to Zone 14 Katsina; AIG Lawal Ado to Zone 15 Maiduguri; AIG Austine I. Agbonlahor to Zone 16 Yenagoa; and AIG David Oyebanji Folawiyo to Zone 17 Akure.

In the same vein, he said the IGP ordered the posting of the former Commissioner of Police (CP) in charge of Ekiti state, CP Asuquo A.A Amba, as AIG in charge of the new FCID Annex Gombe; former CP in charge of Federal-SARS, CP Olafimihan A. Adeoye, is to take charge as the AIG FCID Annex Enugu; while the former CP in charge of Cross River state, CP Uche J. Anozie, is to take charge as AIG FCID Annex Lagos.

The spokesperson said the Police boss charged the affected officers to bring their wealth of experience to bear in their new places of assignment.

“They are to ensure that policing is brought closer to the people and work with relevant stakeholders to tackle crime and improve on policing services across the country,” Adamu said.

The postings/redeployments are with immediate effect according to the spokesperson.
