IGP tasks communities on Police facilities – IGP

The Inspector General of Police, IGP Usman Alkai Baba, Tuesday, said host communities where police facilities are located should strive to protect them under whatever circumstance.

He said such facilities do not belong to the police but the host communities’.

IGP Baba stated this in Ilorin at the commissioning of the new model police station and quarters in Madi, a suburb of Ilorin, the Kwara state capital, which had witnessed high cases of kidnapping in recent times.

The IGP, who performed the official  commissioning of the new model police station with the state  governor, Mallam AbdulRahman  AbdulRazaq , said the essence of siting the police station in Madi was to bring community policing closer to the people.

“The police station belongs to members of the public, it doesn’t belong to the IG, it doesn’t belong to the Commissioner of Police, it doesn’t belong to any DPO, it belongs to you.

“I want to appeal to you to protect it under whatever circumstances,” he said.

Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq while speaking, said the state would benefit a lot from the Police station, adding that more allocation would be made available for all security agencies in the next budget of the state.
