IGP tasks Police on professionalism, warns on law violation

The Inspector General of Police, IGP Usman Alkali Baba has charged officers and men of the Nigeria Police to exhibit high sense of professionalism and shun all forms of abuse.

The IGP gave the charge while addressing officers and men of the Kano state Command of the Nigerian Police Force at the headquarters in Bompai, Kano Wednesday.

He described Kano as one of the strategic commands in the country, especially with regards to the high population and commercial activities.

He said the Nigerian Police under his stewardship was working tirelessly in ensuring that all needed working materials and ammunition are provided to the police formations nationwide in order to ensure security of lives and property of citizens across the country.

”I am using this avenue to call on divisional police officers to be organising lectures and trainings to police working under their formations as this will boost their morale and dedication.

”We are working towards ensuring that all rank and files personnel of Nigerian police are being issued with uniforms free of charge, but you should take note that you have to make sacrifices to improve your job and improve yourself,” he said.

Earlier in his remark, the state Commissioner of Police, Mr Sama’ila Dikko said Kano is a cosmopolitan state with growing population but has only over seven thousand personnel providing security to over fifteen million estimated population.

He expressed serious concern over inadequate operational vehicles and shortage of manpower and urged the IGP to address the issue to enable the command tackle the challenges.
