IGR: Kaduna govt raises task force

As part of efforts to improve on its Internally Generated Revenue (IGR), Kaduna state government has set up a task force comprising competent hands to enforce the registration of business premises and carry out a survey of registered functional industries.

The Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Joshua Shekarau Uchissa, who disclosed this at a press conference yesterday in Kaduna, said the need to carry out the assignment became imperative.

He noted that the state was losing so much money “because people refuse to pay or under pay for the business premises they occupy.”
According to him, the effort is further aimed at generating funds that will be used to carry out development projects that will positively affect the lives of Kaduna citizenry.

The commissioner lamented that over the years, even big companies pay small amounts as registration for their business premises, stressing that “can you imagine even NNPC pays as small as N20, 000 yearly; this is very inadequate considering the large space they are occupying.”
“The state is also going to create a data bank for all business premises with which even business can be registered online and be carried out within 24 hours.”
