IHF Intercontinental Trophy: IHF boss congratulates Ochebo

The president of International Handball Federation (IHF) Dr. Hassan Moustafa have congratulated the president of the Handball Federation of Nigeria (HFN) Mr. Sam Ocheho for the successful outing of the National Under 19 male team and winning silver in the just concluded IHF Challenge Trophy Intercontinental phase which was held in Kosovo.

Dr. Moustafa, in a letter dated 17th of April 2019, praised the outstanding performance of the youth teams during the championship, stating that they played the game of handball exactly as it should be played which has won over new fans to the sport

“They  (the cadet and junior male teams) truly  delivered  the  message  about  our  fast,  dynamic  and fascinating  sport  to  the  world  and  I  am convinced  that  they  have  won  numerous  new  handball  fans with their game “. Moustafa concluded.

The handball world governing boss wished the HFN and her national teams success in future in the sport.

The national under 19 male handball team coached by Emeka Joseph Nnamani, came second as they lost narrowly to Chinese Taipei in the final 27-26.

They had played the Chinese Taipeins in the first game of their group lost 36-18 but bounced back to defeat Paraguay 34-21

The cadet team then defeated Canada 32-25 to advance to the final.

The national under 21 male handball team, meanwhile defeated Australia 37-21 in a classification match to finish fifth in the under 21 category.

The junior male national team had lost out in the preliminary stage as they suffered slim defeats to Chinese Taipei and host, Kosovo.
