IHSAN advocates industrial harmony in health sector

The Institute of Health Service Administrators of Nigeria (IHSAN) has reiterated the need for industrial harmony in the health sector in order to enhance effective and efficient health care delivery to Nigerians.

This was contained in a statement signed by Dr. Peter Egwakhide, National Publicity Secretary of IHSAN and made available to newsmen on Friday.
The statement said that, the Chairman, Board of Trustees (BOT) of the institute, Chief Doja Adewolu, spoke at the just concluded 2020 National Conference/AGM, held at University of Uyo Teaching Hospital, Uyo, Akwa Ibom state.

Adewolu, who is also the Chairman, Board of Management of University of Benin Teaching Hospital, Benin, Edo state, charged the various professional groups and associations in the health sector to come together, to find sustainable solutions to the lingering crisis in the sector.

He assured delegates that the BOT, as well as the National Exco of IHSAN, will work closely, to bring the professional unions and associations to a round table.

This, he explained, was with a view to eliminate the issues of dichotomy and professional rivalries that impede smooth delivery of health services in Nigeria’s public hospitals.

The high point of the AGM was the election of new executives of IHSAN, with Mrs Rose Mary Archibong emerging as the first female national president of the institute.
In her acceptance speech, Archibong, who is the current Commissioner for Commerce, Cross River state, pledged that IHSAN will be given a new focus under her leadership.

Archibong also assured that, she would run an inclusive administration that would give everyone the opportunity to play his role, for the benefit of the institute and humanity at large.

She added that the new exco will partner other key stakeholders to ensure that, the IHSAN Bill is passed into Law and that members are motivated in the discharge of their professional duties.

The new exco was inaugurated at the AGM.
