IIIBF tasks Nigerians on Murabaha Islamic banking

International Institute of Islamic Banking and Finance, Bayero University Kano (IIIBF) has called on Nigerians to embrace Murabaha Islamic Banking system.

The Director of the Institute, Prof. Binta Tijjani Jubril, made the call at a conference organized by the Centre for Civilization and Interfaith Dialogue Bayero University Kano (BUK) on Tuesday.

According to her the conference was aimed at “providing a workable platform for the ulamas and scholars to rub minds on the Murabaha Islamic Banking system” adding that there was the need for other institutions and organizations to organize a similar conference in order to enlighten and educate the general public on the benefits of the system.

Also speaking, the Vice Chancellor,  BUK Prof. Muhammad Yahuza Bello described the conference as timely in view of the challenges being faced by  Islamic financial institutions.

Bello who was represented by the Deputy Vice Chancellor, Prof. Haruna Wakili commended the Institute of the Islamic Banking, for zeal and commitment in enlightening the   general public on the importance of Murabaha Islamic Banking system.

Speaking earlier, the Director Centre for Islamic Civilization and Interfaith Dialogue BUK Dr. Bashir Aliyu Umar stressed the advantages and importance of Islamic Banking system positing that the sharia legal system had legalized the issue of risk management by banks.
