I’ll complete legacy projects, Lalong assures

The Plateau state governor, Simon Lalong, on Friday said his administration would not leave any of its ongoing legacy projects across the 17 local government areas uncompleted before his tenure ends by 2023.

He said the projects which aimed to provide high standard public facilities such as schools and hospitals were conceived to address the problems affecting the indigenes.

The governor gave the assurance at a meeting with the main contractor and subcontractors at the new Government House, Little Rayfield, Jos, according to a statement issued by his director of press, Dr. Makut Macham.

According to the statement, Lalong assured that; “his administration will not abandon any of the legacy projects.”

He said the meeting was to listen to the stakeholders on the progress of work and challenges “so as to resolve them to facilitate the quick completion.”

“My administration inherited many projects which were uncompleted and abandoned.

Even this hall which we named after former First Lady, Mrs. Victoria Gowon, was uncompleted, but we decided to complete it.

If we can complete the projects left and abandoned by others, we cannot fail to complete the ones initiated by our administration.

The president is expected to commission some of the projects when completed,” he said.

The main contractor, Engr. Lawson Ngoa, MD of Bleneson Services, said the project started well, but was affected by delays occasioned by the Covid-19 pandemic and funding “which have now been resolved by the IPO.”

According to him, there will be more speed on the work now that the economy has picked up.
