I’ll decamp to PDP when appropriate -Imo lawmaker

A lawmaker representing Onuimo state constituency in the Imo state House of Assembly, Hon Paul Emeziem has stated that he is not in a hurry to join the ruling party in the state, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

Speaking after being sworn-in as a legislator, he said that even though his colleagues were jumping ship to the ruling party, he would take his time and wait for the appropriate time.

On why he did not vie for Imo speakership like his colleague, Chiji Collins, who moved from the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) to emerge speaker since it was zoned to Imo North, Emeziem made it clear that it was because of the existing house rules which made it impossible for new house members to vie.

Blueprint notes that as in most assemblies, the Imo state assembly specifically reserves principal offices to ranking members who are mostly those that must have served at least two tenures.

He promised to use his position as house member to attract dividends of democracy to his people to ensure that his constituency developed rapidly, as his predecessor failed woefully in that respect.

It is worthy to note that Emeziem has taken over from the immediate past speaker of the house, Rt. Hon. Chinedu Offor who stayed on the saddle barely two weeks before the end of the tenure of the 8th house as Onuimo representative.
