I’ll rebuild Kano on accountability – Guber aspirant

A gubernatorial aspirant on the platform of Peoples Democratic Party, Abdulkadir A. Yusuf, has said he has decided to join the race for Kano Government House in order to build a solid foundation of trust, honesty, accountability and integrity.

Speaking at the presentation of letter of intent to the leadership of the party in Kano yesterday, Yusuf said he was out to perform wonders at the time Kano was in need of a community leader who could change the fortune of the state, considering the stunning pace with which other states had taken the position of Kano.

According to him, the issue of entrenching a coherent and all encompassing leadership could only be realistic and reach fruition if those at the helms of affairs decided to live above board and prove their mettle on the premise of upholding public trust in the present democratic dispensation.

He pointed out that entrenching the spirit of good governance was not all about making noise or engaging in a subtle spin to deceive the gullible voters affirming that performing wonders depends on one’s ability and courage to surmount intractable obstacles and hurdles.

“Mr Chairman, their call for me to contest is also due to their pride in me as a founding member of the party who never defected from it since 1998. My loyalty and commitment to the party from my Ward, Gude to my local government Kabo, the state and the nation are never doubtful.”

“My contest is not a do-or-die affair. As true Muslim who believes in destiny, I believe that Allah is in control of every situation and that his choice is the best for our party and the state which we are always happy to abide by,” he stressed.

In his response, the Deputy Chairman of the party in the state, Alhaji Ibrahim KT, said the number of contestants who have declared intention to contest the governorship of Kano have demonstrated that the party was now waxing stronger, adding that no contestant would ever be favoured on primordial considerations.

He pointed out that the leadership of the party in the state has striven to be just and fair and honest in the face of obstacles, stressing that with fairness and equal justice, the future would be rosy for all members during the 2019 elections.
