Vice-Chancellor, Federal University, Dutsin-ma, Katsina state, Professor Haruna Kaita, has expressed his determination to refocus the university in line with the laudable goals of President Muhammadu Buhari administration’s Change agenda.
He said he was amazed at the abject condition he met the university upon assumption of duty, saying the academic system was in shambles.

The vice-chancellor said some teaching staff were recruited after their sack from other institutions of learning or appointment of ad-hoc staff made permanent after a year or so, among other anomalies.
He said his mandate was to correct the anomalies in the university and make it one of the best in the country.
While commenting on the government’s efforts at revamping the education sector, he lauded President Buhari for appointing the right caliber of people to help him attain his set goals.

Kaita also commended Nigerians for their perseverance in the light of the current economic difficulties, saying “better days are coming”.
Noting that the majority of Nigerians are supporting the present administration, he argued that the problems associated with fuel scarcity and insecurity were inherited from the previous government.
The vice-chancellor said one proof of the present administration’s commitment to serving the yearnings and aspirations of the Nigerian citizens was the recent repair of three refineries in order to solve the fuel scarcity once and for all.
He urged all patriotic Nigerians to help safeguard the refineries and the oil pipelines, as well as watch out against those diverting petroleum products meant for sale at filling stations across the country.
