Illegal refuse dumps, dangerous to health – Kuje council boss

Chairman of Kuje area council, Hon. Ishaku Shaban Tee, has assured the people of the Council of a clean and healthy environment which, he said, could only be achieved through the cooperation of residents, businessmen and women living within the area.
Tete, who gave the assurance in Kuje at the weekend, stressed that to avoid flooding and other natural disasters during the rainy season, residents should help to sensitise those around them, warning that defaulters would be appropriately sanctioned.
He added that his administration had put everything in place to ensure a healthy and disease free environment.
Also speaking, head of department (HOD), Environmental Sanitation in the Council, Abdulrazaq-AL, expressed worry over the way residents used primary school playgrounds as dump sites.

He thanked the chairman for his relentless efforts in carrying out his primary responsibilities, saying that his department would do everything within its powers to maintain cleanliness in the Council.
Also speaking, a business tycoon, Mrs. Grace Andrew, thanked the chairman for making the Council worthy of inhabiting, promising that they would encourage residents to fight against indiscriminate dumping of refuse in the area.
