Illegal structure ‘ll be demolished in Delta- Task Force

Delta State Task Force on Environment has said it will demolish all the illegal structure within the capital territory in order to provide clean environment in the state. 

The Task Force was made up of  Asaba  Capital Development Agency, Ministry of Environment, Waste Management Board and Directorate of Orientation and  Ministry of Information  
Breifing newsmen in Asaba, Director General, Asaba Capital Development Agency, Mrs. Joan Mrakpor said that anybody caught letering the environment would be prosecuted and sent to prison. 

Mrs Mrakpor flanked by the Commissioner for Information,  Mr.  Charles Aniagwu,  Environment Commissioner, Chris Onogba and Chairman of Waste Management Board, Mr.  Emmanuel Chinye said the taskfoce would be strick about the enforcement to keep Delta State clean. 

According to her,  “we have a mobile court to try the offenders, the task force will move into action to ensure that Delta State is clean,   the environment gives a better expression about who we are.,”

“We are starting from  the government reserved area,  especially SS road where political office holders, Permanent Secretaries, Directors and other prominent persons are residing,  we are not going to spare anybody.”

Commissioner for Environment,  Mr.  Chris Onogba urged Deltans to register with private sector participaton (PSP) to evacuate the generated waste in their homes and bussiness environment.  

“In a dirty environment,  bussiness cannot strive,  dirt goes around and comes around to hurt every body. People refused to claim ownership of environment,  anybody that takes ownership polices the environment. 

“We are going to be drastic over it,  we have fulfilled the requirment of the law. Every structure that deface the environment will be pulled down. We want to do things that are right, no matter whose ox is gored.”
