The new Commissioner of Police (CP) to  Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Mr. Mbu Joseph Mbu, has said that he did not come to the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) for politics.
Mbu, who spoke yesterday while fielding questions from journalists when he assumed duty at the FCT Police Command, said: “I am not coming to do politics here.”
The police boss who was reacting to allegations of his non-neutrality in the political crisis in Rivers state where he was last stationed as CP, added: “I am not coming to do politics here ask questions within what I am telling you here.

“Please, don’t ask me those questions; I came to the FCT to work. Watch and monitor what is happening in Rivers state now and ask the CP there.”
Mbu promised to build confidence in men of the FCT Police Command and defend police men as long as they were doing “the right thing.”
He said: “I must tell you that I have to build confidence in my police men, they must work with confidence, without fear of intimidation.
“You are driving one way, or you are doing that which is not good and the policeman accost you and you start telling him; am going to call the IG, am going to call the CP, I will dismiss you!

“I will not accept that. I will defend my policeman as long as he is doing the right thing, I will defend that policeman.”
He warned that “I will make sure that you, who are trying to take laws into his hands and do that which is not good, we will make sure we bring you to book, because without confidence building in the men, anybody can cow the men down and they will not do their job.”
