I’m ready to combat problems in power sector – Minister

The new Minister of Power, Engr. Sale Mamman, has vowed to end problems in the power sector.

The minister stated this Thursday in Abuja on assumption of duty as the new minister in charge of the power sector.

Addressing staff of the ministry, Mamman said he was aware of the challenges in the power sector, and promised to ‘dedicate his diligence and commitment’ to arresting the situation.

However, he appealed for the support of the staff and stakeholders in realising the mandate of the ministry, revealing that he would endeavour to provide an enabling environment as a way of encouraging maximum support and contribution to the ministry.

He said: “You may agree that power is not only the central nervous system, but also the indispensable vehicle for the delivery of all government policies as they relate to the social, economic and industrial development of any country.

“I am not unaware of the fact that the quest for an effective and efficient power sector in our nation has been an unending pain to Nigerians.

“The issues arising from our action and inaction as a ministry have remained on the front burners of the country’s endless and boring discourse on our failure as a nation.
