Imande emerges president of Kuje Tiv community, pledges development

A socialite and philanthropist, Mr Philip Imande has emerged president of the Tiv Community Progressive Association (TICPA) Chibiri Ward in Kuje area council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja.

Imande along with other new executives are to pilot the affairs of the association for the next three years.

The others in the team of the new executives are, Charles Aoo,Vice President; Uwua Tersur, General Secretary; Akura Tashaku, Treasurer; Mayange Nyaga, Financial Secretary; Alaji Msughter, Youth Leader; Amako Avaan and Welfare Officer.

Speaking during the inauguration, chairman of the electoral committee, Julius Uhii charged the new executives to be selfless in leadership, adding that the election to the various positions of the association showed the confidence reposed on them, following their contributions to the development of the community.

Also, the immediate past president of TICPA, Benjamin Ikyo, appreciated the presence and contributions of members to the stability of the organisation during his tenure.

On his part, the legal adviser of the association, Elder Henen Ubi, popularly known as ‘Incharge’, thanked members especially the former executives for the peaceful election, tasking the newly elected executives to always carry everybody along in discharge of their responsibilities.

In his acceptance speech, the new president, Philip Imande assured the members that his administration would not betray the confidence reposed in him even as he promised to improve on what his predecessor has put in place.

The TICPA president disclosed that his administration would set up a committee to undertake a tour of the eight villages under his jurisdiction in order to bring back old members for greater synergy and progress.

“With the level of insecurity and other challenges in the country, all we need to do is to come together as a family and work towards peace and harmony. Peace is sine qua non for growth and development,” he appealed.
