Nigerians have been admonished to speedily thought of reinvigorating moral currency, by eschewing corruption in them for the overall progress of the country.
Co-executive coordinator of Interfaith Mediation Center (ICM) Kaduna, Imam Nuryn Ashafa, gave the admonishment at the town hall meeting on the fight against corruption, and launching of faith based pedagogy, supported by MacAthur Foundation in Jos.
He said: “The moral currency is dying in Nigerian people, by corrupt practices in all spheres of life. To coorect that we must have attitudinal change in us to be able to get out of the menace of this moral currency deacy.”
According to him, the scale of check mating the right thing is corrupted and that the heart of man is spoiled, because People are planting bad seeds in the heart of their children, that is why our nation is corrupt.
He said People should think and shun attaining materialism at all coast, stressing that the value of morality has changed in the country and must be working towards correcting it.
“People can change history from bad to good on their own will for a better future. And that we can start right from Primary schools and faith base pedagogy on anti-corruption,” he said.
The chairman of Jos North Local Government Council, Hon. Shehu Bala, lauded the IMC initiative in the fight against corruption, right from the grassroots and faith based approaches.
He said it is bad that indicices are showing that in almost very ten naira from government only three naira goes to the right channels.
He assured IMC of the council’s maximum support in its bids to fighting corruption in all ramifications.
The Plateau State Chairman of Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) Prof. Matthew Sule, said his board has zero corruption tolerance, adding that he will appreciates IMC, taking SUBEB into it’s folds in the direction of from fight against corruption.
Represented by permanent member, 2 at SUBEB, Malam Yahuza Yusuf, said: “SUSBEB assured its readiness of membership of the interfaith programmes of fighting corruption.”
The Jama’atu Nasril Islam (JIN), Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Persons with disabilities and many others share their thoughts on the way forward to fight corruption.
