Immigration boss reads riot act to officers

The new comptroller of Immigration in charge of the Kaduna state command, Nuhu Apang Takum, has warned officers that there would be no room for laziness and redundancy or any act unethical to the Service.
According to thim, every officer must be up and doing in the discharge of his/her duties in order to justify the confidence reposed on them.

He gave the charge while interacting with the officers upon assumption of office in Kaduna.
He said: “Those working in yesterday’s immigration should wake up, because there will be no room for laziness, what is required is dedication to work and utmost commitment.

“You must uphold the ethics of the job and be a total immigration officer; you must comply by SERVICOM details and shun all forms of corruption.”

He, however, gave the assurance that he would operate an open door policy in the discharge of his duties.
Takum said there would renewed efforts at ensuring that illegal immigrants in the state were identified and shown the way out or be made to legalise their documents.

Meanwhile, the new comptroller commended the efforts of Governor Mukhtar Ramalan Yero for providing the security agencies the enabling environment to operate in the maintenance of peace in the state.
He disclosed that there were divisional intelligent officers at the 23 local government areas of the state that were expected to romance with the relevant stakeholders with the sole aim of gathering intelligent information.
