Imo APGA chair slams Buhari over Kuje jail-break

Disturbed by the level of security lapses experienced in the country under the administration of the All Progressives Congress (APC), and the Kuje Abuja jailbreak a few days ago, the Imo state chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), John Iwuala, has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to do something or resign.

Iwuala made the call in a chat with journalists at the state party office, Owerri, weekend.

He averred that Buhari, as the Chief Security Officer and Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces of Nigeria, has failed the people and so should resign immediately.

He said it was a shameful thing for the jailbreak to happen at the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja, while security agents were in Imo state parading, celebrating their day with Governor Hope Uzodimma.

He said the security agencies left the FCT at the mercy of armed robbers and terrorists who had a field day and operated for over two hours which led to the escape of bandits out of the prison.

Iwuala added that the unfortunate thing about the whole matter was that there was no reinforcement made him reflect on the statement of the late head of state, General Sani Abacha who said,  “any insurgency that lasts beyond 24 hours must have the hands of government in it.”

He added that, “citizens are now left in jeopardy, living in great fear in their own country.”

While calling on Nigerians to reject the APC, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and embrace APGA for a better country, the state chairman asserted that the people are no longer safe in the hands of APC government.

He said the ruling party does not have the interest of the people at heart as it has once again done its “political orography” by giving its presidential ticket to another incapacitated politician.”
