Imo: Army, gunmen clash over Soldier ‘s abduction

Following the abduction and dehumanisation of a female soldier, a lieutenant around Okigwe in Imo State, a few days ago and an alleged discovery of the camp of some unknown gunmen loyal to the Biafran philosophy by security agencies, the stage may have been set for a battle of supremacy between the Nigerian soldiers and the Biafran loyalists.

An unconfirmed report had it that since Saturday, there have been clashes involving the two groups along Okigwe and it’s environs leading to casualties on both sides, thereby making it impossible for motorists and residents to access the area or move about peacefully.

However, efforts to get the Imo Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, CSP Mike Abattam, or his counterpart at the Army Brigade to confirm the development have proved abortive as no feedback has come from those ends.
