Imo economic summit donates facemasks to schools

Imo state Ministry of Education has received a donation of 5,000 facemasks from Imo Economic Summit Group (IMESG) as part of their contributions towards assisting parents to provide COVID-19 kits to their children and wards who will be returning  to school upon resumption.

Chairman of the group, Igwe Patrick Acholonu said the donation was part of their initiatives to kit 25,000 Imo State West African School Certificate (WASC) candidates with face masks, noting that his group was known to assist the state government in its developmental efforts, using the intellectual and other resources of their members.

Receiving the donation on behalf of government, Commissioner for Education, Prof B.T.O. Ikegwuoha commended the group for the gesture which he said would go a long way to facilitate the COVID-19 protocols by Imo state students, especially the exit ones.

He seized the opportunity afforded by the meeting to inform the group that the state government was still carrying out thorough survey of all private and public schools in the state to ensure strict compliance to the stipulated Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) protocols against COVID-19 before a resumption date for schools would be announced, adding that all efforts would be made towards preventing the risk or danger of community infection.
