Imo gov to empower 15, 000 youth with N4bn grant

Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo state would Saturday empower 15,000 youth across the 27 LGAs with grants to go into various businesses and trades they learnt during their entrepreneurship training.

Blueprint gathered that each of the youth would be given the sum of N250, 000 to prosecute his or her choice of business or trade.

It was also gathered that the money to be given out were not loans, but grants from the World Bank which was approved for the state as a result of the mechanism set up by the state government for such grants.

A source at the Ministry of Entrepreneurship and Skills Acquisition gave the assurance that the process of disbursement would be transparent.

The source said, “The grant is a business stimulus packaged and geared towards empowering the youth as it is not a loan, thereby creating the needed spring board for creativity and enterprise in Imo state. This move will go a long way in creating the needed job window while also improving the standard of living of the youth.”
