Imo guber: Kingsmen ‘at war’ over Ihedioha, Anyanwu

A war between two groups of kingsmen of the immediate past governor of Imo State and former deputy speaker of the House of Representatives, Chief Emeka Ihedioha, is brewing in his Mbaise clan.

Blueprint correspondent gathered that since the purported endorsement of the National Secretary of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Samuel Anyanwu (Samdaddy) who hails from Ikeduru Local Government Area (LGA) of Imo State for 2023 Imo governorship by a faction of Ihedioha’s kingsmen with the platform, Mbaise Patriotic Assembly (MPA), led by a former Attorney General in the state, Justice Aguwa (retd), things have gone haywire.

A few days ago, a group known as Mbaise Apex Leaders led by Retired Air Commodore Luke Ochulor and made up of Chief Mike Ahamba (SAN) and Chief PGU Madu countered the endorsement,.

The group said Ihedioha remained the sole governorship choice of Mbaise people and that those who endorsed Senator Anyanwu did not have the mandate of the people.

It was also learnt that they allegedly went as far as baring Senator Anyanwu from entering Mbaise land for trying to distort an already programmed order.

Another group from the same clan had in the last few hours, analysed the situation and supported what MPA did.

It said since Ihedioha had been the choice of the people on two occasions without success, it would be better to look for another qualifed, credible and vibrant choice, either from Mbaise clan or Owerri Zone to contest in the November 2023 Imo governorship election to avoid losing out again to another zone.

The genesis of Ihedioha, Anyanwu controversy in the state started after the 2019 PDP governorship primary in which Anyanwu lost to Ihedioha but later went to court claiming that there was over-voting in the exercise.

Since then, it has snowballed into threatening the 2023 Presidential Campaign Council of the party in the state and nobody knows where it will lead them to as build up to the 2023 general election continues.
