Imo: Ihedioha sends LG Chairman, boards parking, appoints interim committee

Imo State Governor, Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha has formally approved the suspension of local government chairmen, vice chairmen, councillors and their political appointees.

This was contained in a press release issued and signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Chibuike Onyeukwu.

According to him, the approval was in line with the instrument brought before him by the State House of Assembly which made the recommendation.

He said, “By that, the Directors of Administration and General Services (DAGS) in the 27 local government councils are further asked to continue to oversee the affairs of the councils, pending the confirmation of the members of the Interim Management Committees.

“In the same vein, the Chairman and members of the State Independent Electoral Commission and all statutory boards, agencies and parastatals in the state have been dissolved using the relevant laws.

“The most senior persons are therefore, directed to take over from the sacked heads, pending the appointment of their new heads.”
