Imo: LG Boss procures machines for road rehabilitation

Chairman of the Interim Management Committee (IMC) of Mbaitoli local government council, Hon Canice Ugo Mba, has paid for machines meant for  rehabilitation works on roads in different autonomous communities of the area to make them motorable during the forth coming Christmas and new year celebrations.

Hon Ugo, disclosed this when members of the Correspondents’ Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Imo state council led by Steve Uzoechi paid a courtesy visit on him.
The visit was to know how far he has gone in  his delivery of dividends of democracy to his people and the state of projects he has embarked upon.

The LG told the visiting Journalists that in addition to the mini stadium, secretariat and projects spread across the 12 wards of the area which have reached 75% completion, he is expecting a tipper, a roller and a grader from the United States of America.
He said with the arrival of the machines, the issue of bad roads which has worsened since this year’s rains, would be a thing of the past and that refuse dumps littering the area would be evacuated to make the environment clean.

Hon Mba also said his intention was to do at least six projects in each ward rather than one, before he leaves office, depending on how long he served.
On security, the LG Boss described area as peaceful and hospitable to live in and do business, but regretted the menace of Fulani herdsmen who come into the area with their cattle and destroyed farm crops.

He then called on governments at all levels to urgently assist in arresting the situation as he would not like to witness what would lead to breach of peace in the communities.
While assuring that he would not hand over an unfinished project to his successor, Ugo thanked Governor Emeka Ihedioha for giving him the opportunity to serve and for allowing due process and local government autonomy to prevail at the third tier level in the state.
