Imo: PDP vows to fight Buhari’s agenda

The South east zonal vice chairman of Peoples Democracy party (PDP), Chief Austin Umahi, Monday urged the Supreme Court to reverse the judgment against Emeka Ihedioha, the 2019 PDP governorship aspirant in Imo state and avert calamity in the nation.

Emeka Ihedioha of PDP was declared winner of 2019 gubernatorial election in Imo and he had sustained his victory at the tribunal and Appeal Court only for the Supreme Court to squash his victory last week.

Umahi who urged the court to reverse the judgment said the nation would lose peace if nothing is done.

While he alleged that government of the All Progressive Congress (APC) has an agenda to squeeze democrats in the country, he described the judgment as pervasive.

He said: “We want and we are saying it categorically that the judgment of the Supreme Court is a pervert judgment, and must be reversed immediately for the oneness of this nation. For the furtherance of democracy, they should reverse and reinstate the man that was elected by the Imolites,  Emeka Ihedioha, and not a man that was  brought through the back door into Imo state.

“This is an agenda and we understand the agenda that is he is doing. We will refute it with everything that we have. That judgment cannot stand.

We are here as lovers of democracy and on the judiciary, we want to pass information to you. It could be one person today, tomorrow it will be your turn. If you don’t resist this abnormality,if you don’t resist this abomination, if you don’t resist this imperfections, one day, it will be your turn.

“It is time to rise up and say no to intimidation, we have risen as a people, we have risen as democrats to say that what is wrong is wrong and  to say that we should not allow our judiciary to die because it is the last hope of a common man, once judiciary is captured we are finished in this country, and from all indications, we can see that we have a compromised judiciary, we can see that there is no independence, no rule of law in this country.  Why are we called a country? This is worse than a  banana republic.

Meanwhile the state party chairman, Barrister Onyekachi Nwebonyi, said the evidence tendered before the Supreme Court was fake, as it came from an unlawful source.
