Imo: Police arrest IPOB commander, destroy camps


The tactical team of the Imo Police Command and other forces, Friday, arrested one of the commanders of the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra(IPOB)/ Eastern Security Network (names witheld) and destoyed their camps in Izombe, Atta and another community in Oguta, Ikeduru and Ideato North local  government areas respectively of Imo state.

According to CSP Mike Abattam, media aide to the Commissioner of Police, Abutu Yaro, who confirmed the situation to Blueprint, “The commander was first arrested and he made useful confessions linking him to IPOB/ESN. After that, he led the Police tactical squad of IRT, STS, special forces, AKU, QIT and Imo state command special squad to three IPOB locations in Atta, Izombe and Ideato North.


“All the three camps were overrun by the tactical units of the NIgeria Police after fierce gun battles and several weapons, stolen cars, explosives, gun powders, charms, IPOB/ESN flags, ammunition, Indian hemps, tramadol and many other hard drugs were recovered.”
Abattam said investigations on the matter were still on.
