Imo residents storm banks over new Naira notes

Thousands of Imo residents in the early hours of Friday stormed various banks in the state, especially Owerri, the state capital, in search of the newly designed Naira notes.

However, our Correspondent who visited banks gathered that the notes could not be easily accessed.

Our Correspondent reports that there were long queues both in the banking halls and at Automated Teller Machine (ATM) centres as people were either standing or sitting down in anticipation of a successful transaction.

In the banking halls, the cashiers would make it clear to customers that they would not be given the newly designed notes, but the old ones because they were not available.

Relief, however, came the way of customers when they were informed in one of the banks that customers would be attended to Saturday and Sunday to help ease the situation.
