Improving physical, healthy living in front burner as FCT SWAN week takes off Dec 7


All Journalists writing, reporting, presenting and editing sports within the Nation’s capital under the aegis of Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) FCT chapter will as from Saturday December 7, kick off their 2019 annual social week.

According to a statement issued in Abuja by the Secretary Ikenna Okonkwo after SWAN exco meeting on Wednesday at its secretariat, the week-long event is scheduled to commence with Walking and Jogging, physical exercise, as from 6.30am on Saturday.

The exercise will begin from prestigious Old Parade ground in Area 10, Garki district.

SWAN Chairman in FCT, Comrade Ndubueze Chidoka, who has been speaking on the essence of the event harped on the need for members to take advantages embedded from start to finish of this year’s programme.

“I want to beckon on our members to take this year’s SWAN week seriously. The benefits that have already been mapped out are enormous.

“Beginning with the walking and jogging which is entirely a physical exercise is well-packaged in partnership with the Federal Capital Territory Sports council. Recently, we held a Football for Healthy Living Football Competition in collaboration with Actors Guild of Nigeria.

“The essence of these physical exercise programmes is to encourage members as well as create awareness on the need to live healthy life style.

“Other activities lined up have been carefully designed to put smile on members in the coming days.”

Other programmes as contained in the scheduled include lecture series and Football competition in honour of late Media guru Olajide Fashekun.

There will also be tennis and E-Sports competition as well as Taekwondo media clinic slated for Moshod Abiola National stadium Abuja.
