Improving school, hospital, correctional center, my focus – New Rotary President

The newly installed President of Rotary Club of Kaduna, Barr. AbdulMalik AbdulAzeez, has stated that his immediate focus is how to improve Rigasa General Hospital, a Kaduna public primary school and the Kaduna Correctional Center.
Speaking in his acceptance speech in Kaduna on Tuesday night, Rotarian AbdulMalik, said he has a loaded programme for his one year tenure, which will be based on collaboration with other stakeholders. He lauded his predecessor, Rotarian Joycelyn Anagende for her performance in office, while calling for her support and the support of other Rotarians and well wishers to make his tenure a success.
“I have earmarked some projects that the club would execute in the Rotary year; like renovation of the school block for a public primary school, Jamiyyar Matan Arewa. We are going to renovate the Rigasa General Hospital in the area of some of the dilapidated structures.

“I received a call from Kaduna Correctional Center to come to their aid in the area of constructing toilets and soak away system for the facility. These are the major projects that I want to embark on. They would require lots of money but I’m sure with the support of other Rotarians it would come to reality.
“I’m going to collaborate with Kaduna state government, international organisation and NGOs in carrying out our monthly projects as stipulated by the Rotary International,” he said.

Rotarian Anagende in her valedictory speech, said the club started with 22 members but ended the year with 30 members. She reeled out 20 projects that she achieved, including; screening and vaccination of over 400 people to mark World Hepatitis Day; donation of wheelchair to Baby Mustapha; sponsorship of appendicitis for a girl with support of other clubs; donation of 10desktop computers to Kaduna schools, donation of books to adult education class.

Other projects executed under Joycelyn’s leadership include renovation and painting of Road Safety Clinic; donation of clinical equipment and consumables for accident victims; donation of consumables to General Hospital Rigasa; assembling and distribution of 70 wheelchairs to physically challenged people, donation of borehole in Ungwan Waziri, Barakallahu and empowering 10 widows with N10,000 each.
Awards were later presented to deserving members, while five new members were inducted.
