In Anambra varsity, Student bags 11 awards out of 14



Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University College of Medicine (COOUCM), Awka, has inducted 47 newly graduated medical and surgery students of the college into medical profession with an inductee, Dr Ebuka Gideon Obiasor, winning 11 out of 14 awards available at the occasion.
Obiasor, who hails from Oba in Idemili South LGA of Anambra state emerged overall best student on 2nd Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS), 3rd MBBS, Obstetrics and Gynaecology (O&G), and 4th MBBS.


He also won best graduating student on Biochemistry, Physiology, Pathology, Pharmacology, Community medicine, overall best on Fourth MBBS. On fifth MBBS Surgery, and overall best.
Other winners were Dr. M. Chiebonam Claire (Pediatrics) on Fourth MBBS, Dr Egwuagu Obioma Medicine on Fifth MBBS, and Dr Adinnu Dennis for Anatomy on Second MBBS. Speaking at the 5th induction and Oath Taking ceremony, held at Awka, the Anambra state capital, the COOU Vice-chancellor, Prof. Greg C. Nwakoby, charged the new doctors to be change agents in the health sector wherever they find themselves, adding that doctors were trained to save lives.


On his part,  the Provost of the College, Prof. Walter Nwafia, to uphold the rules and regulations guiding medical practice, and also respect the rights of patients while performing their professional duties.
Speaking on behalf of all inductees, Dr Gideon Ebuka Obiasor, assured his alma mater, parents and patients they would not disappoint them in the course of practice.
