In Borno, PDP Scribe, LG Chairmen defect to APC

Borno State Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Alhaji Baba Ahmed Mustapha and 12 local government council party chairmen have defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Addressing journalists at the APC State Secretariat on Friday at a press briefing, Mustapha said their defection was informed by the injustice displayed by the party machinery and caucus.

He said “It is better to decamp late than never. The party can not present a single and substantive candidate for the governorship election in the state.

“Similarly, candidates that people made sacrifices for end up selling out or decamping to the progressives to move the state and country forward.

“So, I have decided to defeat to APC, along with 12 LGC Party Chairmen of the PDP in order to join hands together to carry the state to greater heights.

“Even though our defections to APC, is barely 24 hours to Saturday Gubernatorial and State House of Assembly elections, the injustices meted to other members of PDP could be halted to ensure equity and justice in the state.

“I defected to APC on Thursday; because of injustice and deceit in Borno PDP. Twenty four hours to the election, you cannot
feel the presence of PDP with no campaigns, even days before the Saturday election.

“PDP has a flag bearer Muhammed Imam. But he has since remained mute without campaigning, which means a deceit of the people. It really means that the candidate is deceiving the people of Borno state.

He said that the effects of his defection and others would be reflected at the Saturday polls across the state.

The former PDP State Scribe  called on other members of PDP to come and join the progressives to move Borno to the next level.
