In Ebonyi, new governor sacks Umahi’s men, appoints 15 security aides

Governor Francis Nwifuru of Ebonyi State Saturday announced the appointment of fifteen security aides among other six others.

The security aides who are to be sworn in on Monday were selected from the 13 Local Government Areas (LGAs) of the state.

Before then, Nwifuru ordered the immediate termination of all political appointments made by his predecessor, David Umahi, excluding those in the Civil Service Commission, Judicial Service Commission, Independent Electoral Commission and Anti Corruption/ Public Complaint Commission.

The orders were disclosed in different statements by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Dr. Monday Uzor.

Part of the statements reads “the Governor of Ebonyi State, His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru has approved the termination of appointments of all Political Office holders appointed by the previous administration with immediate effect.

“All the affected appointees are directed to hand over all government property in their possession to the most senior civil servant in their respective Ministries, Departments, and Agencies.

“The Governor appreciates the contributions of all the political office holders to the development of the State and wishes them well in their future endeavors.

“Please note that Permanent Secretaries and political officer holders in the following statutory commissions are exempted from this directive.

“Those exempted are: Civil Service Commission, Judicial Service Commission, Ebonyi State Independent Electoral Commission and Anti Corruption/ Public Complaint Commission”.

Another statement by the same said, “The Governor of Ebonyi State, His Excellency Rt. Hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru has approved the appointment of the following Persons as Senior Special Assistants and Special Assistants to the Governor:

“Emerike Chinedu  – SSA Security, Ebonyi North, Felix Okemini – SSA Security, Izzi LGA, Sunday Ogbonna  – SA Security, Abakaliki LGA, Mbam Emmanuel Obinna – SA, Internal Security, Ebonyi LGA, Ogbonna Tobias  – SA, Internal Security, Ohaukwu, among others.

“The appointees will be sworn-in on Monday, 5th June 2023”.
