In Enugu, Edeoga defects to Labour Party, picks governorship ticket

Former governorship aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), in Enugu state, Hon Chijioke Edeoga, has defected to the Labour Party (LP), which has picked him as its flag bearer for the 2023 governorship election.

Edeoga, the immediate past Commissioner for Environment in the state, contested the PDP governorship primary but lost the ticket to Barrister Peter Mbah, who was unanimously endorsed by political stakeholders from Enugu East senatorial zone, where the 2023 governorship slot was zoned.

He confirmed his defection and emergence as the LP flag bearer to newmen who contacted him on Sunday saying: “Yes, it’s true. I’m now the Labour Party governorship candidate.”

Edeoga replaced Casmir Agbo, who was earlier elected LP governorship candidate.

Agbo who is the state chairman of the party, confirmed his acceptance to step down for Hon. Edeoga on Saturday.
