In FCT, Police smash car snatching syndicate, nab 6, recover 5 cars

Operatives of the Anti-Car Theft Unit of the FCT Police Command have smashed car snatching syndicate along Kubwa, Garki and Lokoja axis, even as six suspected members of the syndicate were arrested and five vehicles recovered from the gang.

Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) for the command, ASP Mariam Yusuf, in press statement, Sunday in Abuja, said: “Amongst the suspects are: Beneth Idiwogu, 31; Uche Victor, 37; and Julius Kilotomo, 22; all male, were arrested during different coordinated intelligence operations by the Command’s Anti-Car Theft Unit.

“The suspects confessed to being members of the notorious syndicate terrorising the FCT. Exhibits recovered are: silver coloured Toyota Corolla, silver coloured Toyota RAV4 and one black coloured Lexus.”
She further stated, “Relatedly, Police operatives from Kubwa Division arrested four-man robbery gang along Kubwa Garden, the suspects are: oAbubakar Isa,  20; Abdullahi Abdul, 23; and Mubarak Usman, 25; all male, were arrested after robbing their .

“However, one of the suspects sustained gunshot injuries in his to escape arrest and was taken to the hospital where the doctor him dead while receiving treatment.
“The suspects stated that they are responsible for terrorizing Kubwa axis. Exhibit recovered: three  cutlasses, one dagger, one cutter, Laptops, nine  mobile phones, plasma TV and jewelry.

“Effort is in top gear to arrest the fleeing suspects. The suspects will be arraigned in court upon conclusion of investigation.”
The spokesperson further said, “The Command implored residents to report all suspicious movements, emergency or distress, through these numbers: *080320039, 08061581938, 07057337653 and 08028940883,* to report the conduct of Police Officers, call the Public Complaint Bureau (PCB) number: 09022222352.”
