In Imo, grasshoppers lose coach

Prudent Energy Premier Handball League side, Imo Grasshoppers was Thursday thrown into confusion as the news of the death of their coach, Stella Ndudi nee Odoemena, filtered into the air.

Coach Ndudi, who died after a brief illness, was also a coach with the national Under-20 Female Handball team.

While alive, she led the former African champions, Imo grasshoppers to win many national handball championships which earned her national recognition.

She also led the team to win many national and international laurels as player and captain of the team.

Late Stella was also in the national team that qualified Nigeria for Barcelona ’92 Olympics as African champions, a feat that has been difficult to equal by the succeeding teams.

Until her death, she was assistant director in the Imo state sports commission.
