A yet to be identified man, resident in Nekede, Owerri, Imo State, Friday, reportedly beheaded his two children, between 9 and 10 years of age.
He ran away afterwards.
Blueprint gathered that when he was struggling with his children – a boy and a girl, some members of the neighborhood thought he was beating them up for an offence committed.
But when their voices changed, it occurred to them that it was a murder case.
When people eventually rushed into the house, the harm had already been done and the perpetrator of the dastardly act was nowhere to be found, but pool of blood from the spots where the weapon hit them was all over the place.
Some minutes later, security operatives were called in to arrest the situation and later took away the corpses.
The reason for the man’s action was not ascertained as at the time of filing the story but some people blamed it on the influence of ice drug known in local parlance as “Mkpurur Mmiri”.
The Imo Police Command is yet to make a statement on the incident.
