In Nasarawa, Gov. Sule flags off another free medical outreach


Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa state, Tuesday, flagged the state wide second phase of free medical outreach.
During the flag off in Awe local government area of the state, Sule said 700 people would benefit from the free medical outreach while 15 persons would undergo surgery during the exercise.


He said the establishment of Healthcare Insurance Scheme in the state was aimed at providing accessible and affordable health care services to the indegents across the state.
Sule said his administration would continue to accord priority attention to the provision of health as the exercise would be in phases till it cut across all the 13 local government areas in the state.


The Chief Medical Director (CMD) Dalhatu Araf specialist hospital Lafia, Dr. Ikrama Hassan, said the essence of the free medical outreach was to provide quality health care services to the people at rural areas that usually don’t have access to the high quality of services.
“A lot of people for them to have specialist care they have travel far away to Lafia or Keffi , it is only some critical cases that cannot be handle here that people are force to go to those places.

“So government has decided that let specialist follow people to their villages so that a lot of illnesses can be dictated early and people can now start treatment,some of these treatment you have to go to specialist hospital is just because they are not dictated early,” he said.


The CMD therefore, called on everyone that is around Awe to come forward for screening and advised on how to maintain their health status.
The exercise was organised by Dalhatu Araf specialist hospital.
